There are many Japanese restaurants in Bayan Lepas area. If you went to one of them in Krystal Point, namely Sobayoshi, sometimes the host will advise you to go to the one in i-Avenue few meters away if the restaurant is too crowded. Today, we are going to review one of their branches – Ichyo at i-Avenue.

Kaisen Kimuchi Ramen

There are 3 Japanese restaurants fall under the same ownership – Sobayoshi, Ichyo, and Takehana at Autocity, Prai. For Ichyo, it is more well-known of its ramen. The ala-carte ramen is usually big, such as Kaisen Kimuchi Ramen (RM16.00++) which is slightly spicy and comes with seafood and Korean “Kimchi” cabbage.

If the price for ala-carte is too much for you, you can always order ramen set meals, such as Shoyu Ramen Set Meal (RM18.00++) which usually comes with ramen, garlic rice, fried dumpling, and fruit. With this, you can enjoy noodle and rice at one time. However, the ramen will become smaller for set meal, and I can only see one thin slice of chicken in my soup.

Horenso Shimeji Itame

My friend also recommend me Horenso Shimeji Itame (RM15.00++) (Horenso = Spinach, Shimeji = Mushroom, Itame = Fried), which is spinach fried with mushroom. Taste good.

California Temaki

Free Ice Cream

As usual, I ordered one California Temaki (RM5.00++). Not the cheapest but fortunately the ingredients are richer than others. I was looking for ice-cream in the menu but unfortunately cannot find one. We asked the host and surprisingly, they gave each of us one scope of chocolate ice-cream for free!

As a whole, both service and food in Ichyo are good. It has its own specialty compared to other 2 branches. I enjoy watching “Tom and Jerry” from the little LCD on the wall (similar to Takehana). However, it is targeted more on middle to higher income groups, which make this place a once-in-a-while gathering/celebration spot for working class. From the receipt, I just known that i-Avenue is actually stands for “Ideal Avenue”.
