Those staying in Sungai Petani should know about a country club called Cinta Sayang. Before the club, there is a new housing area called Taman Tuanku Haminah with a row of shops in front, including a Japanese restaurant called Kawazu (河津)Japanese Restaurant.
Similar to some other Japanese restaurants, the dining hall is partitioned into rooms with low tables. For my first visit, I was instructed to sit on normal table instead since I was alone.
:noword:
The environment is kind of dim so the photos taken are dark as well. I felt uneasy also as the cashier is just beside me, watching me taking photos and eating.
I ordered a bento called “Shake Ko Don Set” (RM18.00 Net) comes with salmon sashimi, rice, yakitori, miso soup, salad, fruit, and Sichuan vegetable (in a Japanese restaurant?). The raw salmon is nice. Yakitori is just average, and the fruit is actually a cute mandarin orange.
I like baby octopus so I ordered one Chuka Idako (RM7.00 Net). It is big but not as juicy as others. More like just taken out fron fridge.
My first impression is that the service could be better, especially for Japanese restaurants in which “smile” is the utmost important ingredient. I heard no “Irashaimase” or “Arigato” during the first visit.
