Tsuruya Japanese Restaurant

How many Japanese restaurants is too many? Located in i-Avenue is another Japanese restaurant called Tsuruya (鹤屋). Judging from the environment, it is another hi-class Japanese restaurant. It has low tables in which you have to take off your shoe for dining.

Sake Shioyaki Set

Flipping the menu, we found out that most of the items are actually not cheap, so we ordered set meal – Sake Teriyaki Set (RM19.00++) and Sake Shioyaki Set (RM17.00++). Both come with miso soup, salad, fruit, and fermented vegetables. Sake Teriyaki Set is nice in which its salmon is grilled with sweet BBQ sauce. My friend felt that Sake Shioyaki Set (shioyaki = salt-grilled), in which its salmon is grilled with salt, is just average. Note that you need to apply the salt on the salmon personally. We only found out a scope of salt laying next to the salmon halfway throughout the meal.

As usual, I ordered California Temaki. Tastes OK and the price is same as Ichyo (RM5.00++). We also ordered Salmon Roll Maki (maki = rolled sushi), consisting 6 raw salmons rolled with seaweed and rice. It is nicely prepared and the salmon is fresh, even though the price is at expensive side (RM16.00++)

The owner is a Japanese comic lover as we can see a shelf of Japanese comic books dated back 70′ in the dining hall. While the price is at expensive side, we are still trying to find the restaurant’s specialty.
