Following my Indian friends, we ventured into Karaikudi Restaurant in Little India, Penang. It is a well decorated air-conditioned Indian restaurant in the street full of Indian shops. Karaikudi is actually a city name in Tamil Nadu state, just north of Kerala.
Of course, we had our Papadam before our main courses arrive.
Briyani is a family of primarily South Asian rice dishes made with spices, rice (usually basmati) and meat/vegetables. We focused on Briyani individual lunch during our first visit. The Chicken Briyani (RM9.50++) is nice and comes with tender pieces of chicken cook with basmathi rice and spices.
If you wanna challenge your stomach, you can order Karaikudi Special non-Vegetarian Lunch (RM16.00++), which come with soup, plain briyani, Indian Bread (Chapati), Chicken or mutton side dish and one scoop choice of ice-cream. For ice-cream, however, I received a yogurt instead, which tastes slightly sour. The curry chicken is nice.
While we almost full with the main courses, here come the eye-catching dish…. (* drum sound *)… Sizzling Brownie (RM10.00++)!! It is freshly baked chocolate brownie with a scoop of vanila ice cream topped with chocolate sauce and cashewnut served on hot sizzling plate. It is extremely yummy and we managed to finished it. Recommended.
:relief:
The first visit is surprisingly not so spicy, which is good for me.
