Mon Délice Patisserie

A cheesecake that represents Penang?  Mon Délice Patisserie is a rare cake house in which it only serves quality French cakes and pastries. We recently visited its new outlet which was moved from Nagore Road to Jalan Servis. The new outlet consists of only four tables and fortunately we managed to grab a seat when we arrived. While some customers were celebrating birthdays, we came here just for our itchy mouth.

Mon Délice is operated by a young girl previously working as an engineer in a famous semiconductor company but due to her passion in baking, she quit her nine-to-five job and be her own boss. Mon Délice promises few things:

1. 100% handcrafted from scratch using finest ingredients
2. DO NOT use artificial flavoring, preservatives or premixes
3. All cakes are made daily and do not keep overnight (thus choice can be limited if you arrive late)

During our visit, we tried Apple Cheesecake and Valencia. Apple Cheesecake (RM9.90) – A light cheese cake with cooked caramelized Granny Smith apples, on crunchy cookie base. Topped with caramel swirls.

Valencia (RM10.90) – Orange cream cheese mousse with chocolate genoise. Their own cooked orange compote, layered with a crunchy chocolate cookies base. Topped with fresh orange glaze. Contains no artificial flavoring or coloring. All natural.

Personally, we prefer Apple Cheesecake as the cheesecake is super light and fluffy, allowing us to really taste the freshness and sweetness of the apple. The orange in Valencia, however, is a bit overwhelming such that it covers the taste of the cheese mousse. An excellent choice if you are an orange lover.

We can easily go for third slice if it is not due to the bleeding wallet. As a whole, if you are looking for a fine quality cakes or pastries in Penang, Mon Délice Patisserie is worth the money you pay for.
