Yogurt, soft-serve, dry ice, nitrogen, and frozen pan… these are just few current ice cream trends in Penang. Despite of the creative methods in serving the ice cream, they usually share the same attribute – above-average price. Today, we bring you to an ice cream stall hidden in D’Piazza – Freddo in which their frozen ice cream is reasonably priced.
Freddo outlet in D’Piazza is located in the walkway near to economic rice shop. It is difficult to spot from the main road.
Similar to a famous frozen pan ice cream in Queensbay Mall, ice cream is made on the spot using frying… sorry, we mean frozen pan so that you can enjoy watching them preparing the ice cream. Each cup of Freddo ice cream is priced at RM5. In our own opinion, it is pretty reasonable.
Customers have two types of ice cream to choose from: vanilla or chocolate. It can then be mixed with one of the following ingredients:
- Mango
- Strawberry
- Kiwi
- Banana
- Cherry
- Oreo
- Kit Kat
- Chipsmore
- Milo Nugget
- Peanut Butter
Customers can then select two toppings:
- Coco Crunch
- Corn Flakes
- Honey Star
- Bubble Rice
- Nestum
- Nata De Coco
- Choc Rice
- Sprinkles
- Coco Powder
- Marshmallow
- Peanut
- Choco Beans
Compared to conventional ice cream, Freddo ice cream contains less sugar and is more delightful to enjoy. Personally, we visited the outlet until the staffs recognized us and gave us extra topping until the ice cream almost fully covered by toppings. Freddo at D’Piazza opens daily except Sunday from 12:30pm – 7pm. Perhaps a minor drawbacks are its operation hours which is only until 7pm (and close on Sunday), and the expensive parking fee at D’Piazza (45 minutes for RM1? Come on!).
