This Thanksgiving Day (24-Nov-2016), Taste Cafe in G Hotel Gurney (GPS: 5.43778, 100.31056) will be cooking up a storm for a gourmet Thanksgiving feast at an attractive price. This is also a good opportunity for early Christmas celebration in case you plan to avoid crowd during holiday session. We recently visited the premise for a preview session prepared by the culinary team led by Sous Chef Ketut Gede Dodi who excels in French, Indonesian and International cuisine, backed with 12 years of international experience.

Sushi & Maki

The buffet dinner features salad bar, cheese section, ice cream station, Japanese selection, and even more from appetizer and antipasto to soup to carving station and live action station as well as the dessert.

Sashimi

Our top favorite being fresh sashimi and sushi corner with salmon, tuna, baby octopus, and etc readily available on ice.

Shrimp in a Glass

Turkey Salad

We kicked off our dinner from the appetizer section including special Turkey salad to tease the appetite.

Feta Cheese

Also available is the cheese corner for cheese aficionados.

Seafood on Ice

For us, we prefer to reserve our tummy space for seafood on ice. Other appetizers include soup of the day and salads.

Roasted Turkey w. Fruity Sauce & Condiment

Move on to the carving station for the festive must-have Roasted Turkey with traditional stuffing, it is served with the choice of Giblet Gravy and Cranberry Sauce to pair with the festive mood.

Roasted Prime Ribs w. Black Pepper Sauce

Savour the wonders of Roasted Prime Ribs baked to golden-brown perfection that comes with a selection of sides and sauces. It is also a must-have for beef lover.

Roasted Chicken Breast with Pink Peppercorn Sauce

Next, tuck into chef’s recommended Roasted Chicken Breast with Pink Peppercorn sauce that is distinctively flavourful in mouth. The chicken is placed in the brine made from chef’s recipe inclusive of chicken stock, Juniper berry, bay leaves and fresh thyme for 12 hours before roasting. The roasted chicken is then served with the Pink Peppercorn sauce, a type of herbs that the westerners love, for it enhances the taste with its sweet, fragrant and delicate flavour that will give you a gastronomical delight.

Duck Breast with Cranberry Sauce

Be sure to take the Smoked Duck Breast with Cranberry sauce that is homemade by our talented chefs, so good that the kids and adults cannot resist for more.

Pot-Roast Lamb w. Rosemary

Another star from the menu would be the Pot-roast Lamb with Rosemary that is slow cooked until the meat is tender in the pot for 5 hours before roasting. The roasted lamb is then infused in the rosemary herbs before serving. Plump, juicy and tender, this dish will win your hearts away.

Other hot tray items are International cuisine including tantalizing curry, stir-fried juicy poultry and healthy vegetables.

Lava Stone BBQ Grill

Star of the show would be the Lava Stone BBQ Grill section where guests get to choose their preferred seafood and meat such as squids, king prawns, lamb chops, chorizos er Bratwurst sausages, corn on cobs and have them served with various sauces and condiments.

Our last visit to Taste Cafe was during Tex-Mex Friday Night Buffet which was also our first encounter with Lava Stone BBQ Grill for buffet. The Lava Stones are imported from Indonesia which perfectly enhances the quality of the food by holding the natural flavour, moisture and nutrients in the food, while preventing flare-ups that cause charring for a mouth-watering treat.

Christmas Fruit Cake

End your dinner on a sweet note with their house made desserts. Taste Cafe takes this chance to spread the Christmas cheers by featuring some Christmas sweet treats including New York Cheese Cakes, Christmas Fruit Cakes, Christollen, Assorted Christmas Cookies, Pumpkin Pie, Macaroons and more.

For a cold and refreshing dessert, head on to their ice-cream counter for several flavours and toppings of your choice. For us, we prefer to top our ice cream with melted chocolate from chocolate fondue which is also available as part of the buffet spreads.
