Let’s Meat @ Tanjung Tokong, Penang

We visited Let’s Meat (GPS: 5.45440,100.29039) on September 2017 to celebrate friend’s birthday. The cafe currently occupies two shop units in Lembah Permai near TAR College, right next to famous open air food court.

The cafe is also kid-friendly with an indoor children playground so expect the ambiance to be filled with cacophony especially during peak hour.

Let’s Meat opens as early as 7:30am and they have different menus for breakfast/lunch and dinner. Breakfast and lunch menus are available from 7:30am to 2pm whereas dinner menu is served from 5pm to 9pm.

We began our meal with The Bacon Salad (RM22.30) prepared using crispy bacon, red apple, walnuts, feta, cherry tomatoes on mixed greens. It also turned out to be one of the best salads we’ve ever tried.

Chips and Salsa (RM12.90) even though looked simple, is a must-have sharing dish when hanging out with friends as the chit chat session may last for hours. The corn tortilla chips is served with home made salsa.

Smoked Chicken Wings (RM19.90) is worth every penny with house smoked chicken wings glazed in your choice of honey lime sriracha, buffalo sauce or habanero mango. Juicy and tender.

Haply the highlight of the evening was the full rack Smoked Ribs (RM89.90) – slow smoked ribs glazed in either Honey Lime Sriracha or Bourbon Barbecue Sauce. Served with two side dishes of your choice. For us, we opted for Bourbon Barbecue Sauce, Sweet Potato Fries and Bacon Baked Beans as our side dish. Tenderness-wise, it was considered acceptable even though not fall-of-the-bone tender. The full rack portion is suitable for 3-4 persons.

Tex-Mex Rice Bowls is a recherché category as long as cafe is concerned due to the fact that not all locals are used to the Cilantro lime rice topped with lettuce, cheese, salsa, pico de gallo, sour cream, corn salsa, and smoked chicken breast. For us, it is definitely welcoming as Mexican lime rice is our favorite. Figure: Smoked Chicken Bowl (RM15.90).

Shall we return to Let’s Meat again? Definitely will, especially for its Bottomless Brew Coffee (RM9.00). Our last time having free flow coffee is perhaps when having buffet in hotels.

As a whole, a cozy, spacious and family-friendly cafe suitable for hang out and special occasions. The cafe is opened daily from 7:30am to 9pm. Note that it closes on Sunday and Monday.
