Cafe 13 @ Sungai Petani, Kedah

Trending in Sungai Petani? Try Cafe 13 (GPS: 5.63607,100.47503) at Taman Intan with chef from the famous Lily Catering. We almost flipped our table when we ordered Bento and they served us “economic rice set” on prisoner tray instead (and luckily we did not do so).

Cafe 13 is located in front of Song Kim Dim Sum 淞金点心茶楼 and is opened daily from 11am to 10pm (Closed on Thursday). Tables are limited and we strongly advise our readers to reach there early to avoid disappointment.

Back to the “bento” just now. Despite being a local version of “bento”, it was scrumptious, proven the moment you put the first scope into your mouth. We are not talking about economic rice standard here. In fact, the mackerel fish, Mangkuang Char, black fungus and even the watercress soup tasted like home, as it were prepared by chef with years of experience.

Coffee fans should try their Signature Coffee (RM8.50) which looks like an ordinary cappuccino with a twist. Be sure to stir it well as it has condensed milk beneath it.

Something recherché? Try the milky Sweet Potato (RM8.90).

Fruit Ice Cream Waffle (RM10.90) topped with fresh mango, kiwi and grapes. For 3-4pax, we recommend Waffle Tower for some insta-worthy shoots.

We hand down on Cafe 13’s creativity, including Fruit Salad (RM6.90) with mango, apple and grapes prepared in a jar. The combination is just perfect with sweet grapes sending you to cloud nine at the end of the meal.
