Hello,
Dragon-Y is not a new topic in online community (here and here). My first visit to the restaurant is somewhere in November 2008. So far I had visited it 3 times. Don’t be confused with Dragon-i in Queensbay Mall, this one is located at the ground floor of Suntech building (behind Sunshine Square).
There are set meals provided. During my first visit, I ordered herbal pork leg ramen (药材猪腿拉面) (RM12.90++), in which the pork leg provided is generous and quite “fat”. Good if you like fat pork skin. The ramen came with a cup of hot honey ginseng and a fruit jelly dessert. Yummy~
Speaking about desserts, there are some nice desserts there, including ginseng herbal jelly (秘制人参龟苓膏) (RM5.90++) and Honey Lemon Mixed Fruits (柠密鲜果冰) (RM7.90++). The herbal jelly is mixed with little ginseng and topped with few nice longans. The fruit dessert is mixed with orange, kiwi, honeydew, grape, lychee, and etc. The orange is little sour but other than that the dessert tastes sweet.
Big tummy people like me like to order some light meal along with main course. So I ordered Crystal Shrimp Roll (水晶鲜虾卷) (RM8.90++) and Crab Meat Shrimp Roll (鲜虾蟹皇卷) (RM5.90++). The Crystal Shrimp Roll is basically vegetables wrapped in a transparent skin and topped with a shrimp. Crab Meat Shrimp Roll is similar to salad shrimp available in most dim sum restaurants.
One of its signature dishes is the Abalone Rice Wine Ramen (酒香鲍鱼拉面). Not sure now but there is an offer for it last time in which the meal only costs RM6.90++. The base soup is nice. Another dish to take note is the Crab Meat Broccoli (蟹皇西兰花) (RM8.90++), which is mildly fried with egg york and crab meat. Tastes good.
Of course there are few dishes which are so-so only. Taking Claypot Salted Fish Chicken Rice (咸鱼鸡腿煲仔饭) (RM13.90++) for example, it is not an ordinary claypot chicken rice. The rice is cooked somewhere else before putting into the claypot, and I can’t see any salted fish inside. The boneless chicken is similar to the one in sweet and sour chicken (梅子鸡). Kao giat :smoke:
Once my friend accidentally ordered one “instant noodle” for lunch. It is Hot Spicy Sausage Noodle (酸辣肠仔汤蛋面) which is one of the value lunch meals (RM4.90 each). It is instant noodle topped with mini sausages and eggs. Even the soup also tastes like the seasoning from the instant noodle pack.
As a whole, Dragon-Y provides variety of meals at a reasonable price compared to competitors. However, some meals may not worth it so make sure you ask for recommendation (or at least read this blog) before going there. One of the girls there is pretty by the way…
I had a brocher uploaded here.
