Golden J&C Express Cafe

Timesquare Penang… IMHO it is still very empty even though with Sunshine City moved in. Most probably you are the only customer if you dining in during weekday. There was a cafe in which I visited last year – Golden J&C, in which I feel that it has its specialty despite of being “ignored” most of the time due to location.

First item is Rocky Portuguese Egg Tart 葡式蛋挞 (RM2.20). Tasted good and you no need to travel all the way down to Malacca just to enjoy it.

They also had signature steamed milk 蒸奶 (RM3.20), which usually only can be found in Hong Kong restaurants. I usually feel irritating by just drinking fresh milk alone but this one tasted good… more like Tao Foo Hua for me.

Other specialty include Herb’s Baked 1/4 Chicken with Spaghetti (RM8.90). Not bad. The chicken was tender.

Unfortunately, it was served in paper plate…. which is kind of “cheap” IMO.

I also ordered a mushroom soup (RM3.50). Just average.

At first glance, this restaurant did provide some specialties such as steamed milk and egg tart. It serves no pork and lard, and no tax as well. From time to time, there will be a promoter distributing 20% discount coupons at the lobby (The prices shown above are before discount). It is, however, hidden at one corner, making customers difficult to notice it.
