Mayonize Weston Corner

Ah~ Smoked Duck Breast (RM21.90) cooked to perfectly pink and juicy on a pile of mashed potato and vegetable salad. Smoked duck breast is our favorite but is usually only appeared in buffet spreads or semi fine dining restaurant. Fortunately, we found it at Mayonize Western Corner, Raja Uda, Penang.

Mayonize Western Corner, however, is a bit hard to find due to its “low profile” signboard. Even Waze directed us to the shop lot opposite of it. We eventually found it on our second attempt. It is located at the same row with Senheng electronics shop (GPS: 5.41631, 100.37939). The best way to reach here is to take Permatang Pauh exit at North-South Expressway.

We were the only customer when we arrived that evening. Toward the end of our dinner, there were three more groups of customer joining us in the spacious and relaxing dining area.

We were welcomed by a glass of complimentary water. Mayonize offers few main course and pasta series. By adding RM7, you are entitled for a bowl of mushroom soup and coffee along with your main course/pasta.

The RM7 set dinner is pretty worth the value considering you can select coffee of your choice worth RM10 from the menu. For us, we ordered a cup of Cappuccino allowing us to stay awake for the rest of our journey that night.

Other than the normal Carbonara and Aglio Olio, Mayonize has its own pasta invention – Strada (RM15.90) with al dente spaghetti stir-fried with home recipe sweet and spicy sauce, topped with ham and egg. It is also the best seller among female customers.

Other than Smoke Duck Breast, other main course includes Deep Fried Chicken, Fish & Chip, Pan Grilled Chicken Breast/Butter Fish/Salmon and Lamb Loin.

As a whole, Mayonize is definitely worth visiting thanks to the reasonable price and creative dishes from the kitchen. We do hope that it will serve some unique desserts in future. The cafe is opened daily from 11am to 10pm and is closed on Thursday.
