Located opposite of USM’s Bukit Gambir’s gate is a luxury apartment called Plaza Ivory. Rental should be expensive and some students are staying there. I wonder if there’s any rich girl staying there….

Getting back to business, there are few Malay and western cafe below the plaza. One of them is Sambos Cafe. It is a small cafe in which you can sit inside or enjoy the breeze out there. The menu consists of Chinese and Western cuisines, such as noodle, rice, chicken chop, and fish n’ chip. There are also set meal provided, in which you can choose your own side dish, drink, and a main course. There are two prices: RM9.30 for rice+chicken in various cook style, and western chicken chop/fish n’ chip at RM11:50.
Good thing is, some of their side dishes are quite unique and yummy, especially Sesame Prawn Toast and Tuna Stuffed Puffs. For the puffs, beware that the filling is hot.
The main dishes, however, are just average. The Grape Mayo Fish n’ Chip even though is kind of unique by using grape mayonnaise, it is salty. The Kong Pow Chicken Rice 宫保鸡丁 is not as good as those In Chinese restaurant.
For ordering system, customers have to fill in the quantity in a piece of paper provided using pencil (similar to Kim Gary). The paper is printed two sides, set meal and A la carte. Once I was hungry and ordered a set meal AND a home-made salad. Sadly, the host only saw the set meal and ignoring the salad written on the back. At the end, the salad never came. Not sure whether I should curse them or thank them for controlling my food.
:noword:
As a whole, the side dishes are worth a try while main dishes can be better.
