KINFOLK @ Village Mall, Sungai Petani

Having English breakfast in Sungai Petani? Serious, not many choices but thank to KINFOLK (GPS: 5.66008,100.50086), we can now have a cup of decent coffee in the morning.

KINFOLK is located at the ground floor of Village Mall and is opened daily from 8:30am to 11:30pm. The same owner previously operated French Kisses Patisserie (FKP) specialized in Macaroons in the same building as well so the current cafe is also known as KINFOLK x FKP. By the way, the owner is a good-looking white guy – an added value for female customers.

Our first visit was back in December 2016 in which we were tired of Chinese dim sum and decided to try something new. Since then, we already visited the same premise twice. From 8.30am – 10.30am daily, customers are entitled for 10% discount on all coffee products. We ordered a cup of Cappuccino (RM10.90) during our visits. Rest assured on the freshness of the coffee beans as they are roasted in-house using UK/Australia roaster and grounded using customized Slayer espresso machine.

Glancing through a small page of breakfast menu consisting not more than 10 items, we decided to order Duck Benedict (RM15.00) made of poached egg, shredded duck, hollandaise sauce and bagel. At first we were still worrying that the portion was not enough for one but turned out that we were wrong.

The ingredients blended in well with sweetness from egg yolk penetrating through shredded duck and crispy bagel. A recommended dish.

Another breakfast we ordered was SVEN (RM10) made of potato rosti topped with poached egg. We added roasted mushroom (RM5.90) on top and had no regret on it at all.  A perfect combination and is best consumed when hot.

Bruxxels Belgium Waffle (RM14) is one of the desserts available in the morning with light Brussels waffle topped with fresh fruit, crunchy chocolate bits, maple syrup and homemade delighted vanilla ice cream which we really enjoyed it, making our RM14 worth spending for.

As a whole, KINFOLK is a great place for breakfast/brunch in Sungai Petani other than dim sum and “kopitiam”. KINFOLK also serves wood fire pizza from afternoon onward and customers are entitled for 10% discount on pizza every Wednesday evening from 6pm-9.30pm.
