Located at e-Gate is a new restaurant called Miss Saigon, replacing existing Bequadro – an Italian restaurant. After reading some reviews, my first impression is that their food is kind of special so we paid a visit in one evening.
The restaurant is only occupying one shop lot now. We are welcomed by a “friendly” host. Some items in the menu are no longer available. I picked Wok Fried Scallops with Sweet Basil Sauce (RM20.80++) served with brown rice. For those who like sweet basil (九层塔/金不换) sure like this dish. For me, it is kind of small though. My friend ordered Traditional Southern Beef BUN (RM14.80++), in which its noodle looks like Laksa and not so Vietnamese authenticated according to my friend.
So we ordered some spring rolls. They are stuff with lots of vegetable. Unfortunately, it tastes bitter a bit and the fish in Southern Fish Rolls (RM7.80++) is tasteless. The prawn in Traditional Northern Rolls (RM6.80++) seems was kept in preservative even though it tastes better than the first one.
After having a unique experience on the main dishes, finally comes a nice dessert – Vietnamese Apple Pie (RM5.80++). The apple is sliced and decorated like a rose. Bottom is a pie stuffed with cream and chocolate base. Yummy!
The house special drink is lemongrass tea (RM5.80++). Note that it may not suit everyone’s favorite as the lemongrass (香茅) tastes strong. Another specialty is that the restaurant uses wooden spoon and bamboo cups for certain dishes. Depend on personal’s perspective, it looks unique but may not be so hygiene after long usage.
I will pay the restaurant another visit for other dishes.
