When you see a “golden” keyword on restaurant name, don’t expect you can eat nasi lemak inside for RM2.00. You usually ended up spending more than RM20.00 per person. The quality of the food is still another story.
Located at top floor of Queensbay Mall is Golden Triangle Restaurant serving Indochina cuisine. “Indochina” means countries between China and Indonesia, so Vietnamese, Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean cuisines are usually expected. The restaurant is spacious and nicely decorated with soft music in the background. During my first visit I saw some manager classes having lunch with their VIP…. only I am a cheap slave eating there.
The menu are extremely expensive for slave like me. Fortunately it has 30% discount for promotional set meal. Unfortunately, not all set meals are available each day. The only drink that worth buying is Thai Pandan Coconut (RM5.80++). One “special” drink I found is Amway Treatment Water, which is just a filtered water costs a whoppy RM1.50. The host looks like a Siamese with terrible English.
As you can see, I took more photos on environment that the food itself. In fact, the food is below average. I ordered Golden Triangle Rice Combo (RM26.70 – 30% = RM18.70) which come with (from left) Thap Thim Krop, pineapple rice, mango salad, and pandan chicken. The right most item is not edible (What the xxxx they put it there). The Pandan Chicken is overcooked and the chicken inside become dark and hard. The mango salad (a.k.a Kerabu) is too spicy. The pineapple rice is just average. The only nice item in the set is the Thap Thim Krop – a Thai dessert.
There are 3 branches overall in Malaysia – KL, Juru’s Autocity, and this one. I hope I have the budget to try other food next time.
