Recently, Penang has quite a number of new western food restaurants opened in George Town area. Dicken Street Cafe, for example, is another western cafe at Lebuh Dickens, George Town so new that it does not have a signboard when we visited it at the end of August 2013. The cafe opened since May 2013.
Each time I passed by Lexus showroom in George Town, there are two things I noticed – one is my dream car Lexus CT200H which is out of my league, another one is this 32 Mansion fine dining restaurant which is also out of my reach. Fortunately, I had a chance to visit 32 Mansion recently.
After Micke’s Place, it is time for another western food restaurant review near that area – MGI (Malaysia Global International) Classic Kitchen located at Lebuh Carnavon, the same street with Aik Hoe Dim Sum 益和茶楼 restaurant.
Today, I introduce you a cafe which is recommended by TripAdvisor and usually local customers are outnumbered by foreigners – Micke’s Place.

Affogato (RM8.00) – come with two scopes of vanilla ice cream to be poured with a small cup of expresso brewed with 100% arabica coffee. The espresso was really kick-ass. It can be found in Yellow House – a new hidden gem in Relau, Penang.
If you asked me what’s hot in Penang nowadays, I would say not Laksa, not Char Koay Teow, but burgers. Cafe 43, Marshall, Zul’s Burger, Ric’s Burger, and New York Pizza’s Charcoal Burger are just a few examples. Now, we have another Charcoal Burger stall – Spade’s Burger.
As people are getting more concern on healthy food, sandwich bar quickly becomes an alternative to chain fast food restaurants. As a starter, we have Subway chain sandwich bar. Then, we have O’Briens which is a bit pricey. Now, we have Sandwhich offering some quality ingredients you won’t find in any other sandwich bars.
Hmm… charcoal burger at promotional price of RM10 (valid until 31-Mar-13), a new additional in a local pizza shop – New York Pizza at Sungai Dua, Penang. No, it won’t dirty your hand and it tastes just like normal bun, but tastier and crispier. Let’s see how it tasted like.
