What’s making Suleiman – the Director of Communications in Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa so excited about? It is nothing more than June’s Spice Market Cafe special – Northern Thai Food Promotion presented by two guest chefs – Chef Damrongsak Khammonghon (left) and Chef Pratthung Taka (right).

Tok Wan 101 Recipes @ Vistana Hotel
Kerang Rebus (Boiled Clams) – a local seafood cuisine with delicious crisp succulence which is commonly found in rural area or fisherman village. Now, you can get it at Vistana Hotel of Penang, Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur. This is just one of Tok Wan 101 Recipes buffet items during the blessed month of Ramadhan.
Selera Kampung Buffet @ E&O Hotel, Penang
When you see Buah Kurma (Date Palm), you know that something is coming, that is, month of Ramadan. Last year, we visited Eastern & Oriental Hotel for its Buka Puasa buffet. This year is not exception as well.
Ichiban – The Izakaya
“Izakaya” means Japanese gastropub, or 居酒屋 in Chinese. It is a casual place for after-work drinking. Ichiban – The Izakaya is the Japanese restaurant and bar with currently five outlets in Malaysia:
- Cascades, Kota Damansara
- One Utama (Temporary Closed)
- Country Garden Danga Bay, JB
- Gurney Paragon, Penang
- Alora Hotel, Penang
We recently visited the newly opened Alora Hotel‘s outlet.
Crabby Claws @ Lone Pine Hotel
Recently, we noticed that some restaurants, including The Bungalow in Lone Pine Hotel, like to pour seafood freshly stir-fried from kitchen onto customer’s dining table and ask the customers to eat them using bare hands. No, they are not crazy but this is a new trend to share and enjoy seafood without any cutlery. Just hands.
Meet In Style @ G Hotel Gurney
G Hotel Gurney has been a popular venue for wedding functions and corporate meeting events. Recently, the hotel has extended additional five function rooms. We were invited to experience their new function/conference rooms and more…
Sunday Roast @ E&O Hotel
Chicken, lamb and beef – if you like all these, then you should visit Farquhar’s Bar in Eastern & Oriental Hotel, George Town, Penang for its Sunday Roast Eat-All-You-Can buffet.
Waffle Factory (Groupon with cashback from ShopBack)
Salted Caramel Matcha Waflle (RM15.90) – one of the best waffles in town. Salted Caramel is the recommended homemade gelato in which we have no regret ordering it as it works well as the “balancer” for the sweet waffle dressing. As for the waffle, we selected the matcha flavor. You can get this premium waffle at Waffle Factory.
Chai Diam Ma art space & cafe
After reviewing some restaurants, we found out that there are two types of person who open a restaurant – the first one is an individual who like to cook. The second one being an investor who usually works in group and only focus on ROI (Some of them even don’t know how to cook). There is no absolute answer on who is better but today, we re-visit Chai Diam Ma art space & cafe in George Town, Penang in which the owner not only is a cook, but also an art lover.
Menya Miyabi Hokkaido Ramen @ Queensbay Mall & Sunway Pyramid
We visit Queensbay Mall at Bayan Lepas, Penang almost every month and this is our first time visiting Menya Miyabi since they open for business on December 2013. The shop is located at the first floor toward the wing where Daiso and Maybank are located. We regret that we only visited this ramen shop recently as it is one of the best ramen shops in the region.
