Thai boot noodle was blooming few years back but the recent trend was moving south. Whatsaeb (GPS: 5.41472,100.33433) at Carnarvon Street, George Town, Penang, made a comeback by re-inventing the traditional small dish serving on boat to a normal side noodle… at least now kitchen crews can wash lesser bowls.

International Buffet @ Eastern & Oriental Hotel, Penang (2018/19 Refresh)
Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel (GPS: 5.42366,100.33464) is no stranger to Penangites as it is by far one of the best 5-star hotels on the island. The signature British-style white building has been hosting many VVIP and celebrities over the decades with some even spent their retirement ages here. We recently re-visited it again for International Buffet.
Projek Nasi Lemak @ Solaria, Bayan Lepas, Penang
Nasi Lemak is our favorite and each time we have our lunch at coffee shops, if packets of Nasi Lemak are available on our table, we will add a star to that coffee shop. Projek Nasi Lemak, (GPS: 5.30033,100.26626) on another hand, provides the delicacy at its best, from the ordinary deep fried chicken to the lavish whole lobster at RM7x as the main ingredient.
Shuxin Vegan Cafe 舒心济素馆 @ Sungai Petani
Vegan cafes are mushrooming in Penang but for Sungai Petani, we hardly found one other than those vegan restaurants offering both faux meat and greens in “economy rice” style. No doubt they have the most varieties but if you would like to chill out in a cozy environment with a cup of coffee, then there is not much choices in Sungai Petani until we found Shuxin Vegan Cafe 舒心济素馆 (GPS: 5.66011,100.49653).
4-Course Set Lunch at SPOON, G Hotel Kelawai

The set lunch starts from 12pm – 3pm daily. There are 5 different menus rotating weekly till the end of 2018, bringing you more options for your lunch selections.
PUTIEN 莆田 Re-Visited
Trying out new restaurants is in the gene of foodies and usually we don’t revisit the same restaurant again in near future but Putien (GPS: 5.43585,100.31112) is an exception in which we re-visited the Michellin-starred again for more dishes. Read more to find out which dishes we tried this time.
Swens Pastry Cafe @ Jelutong, Penang
Wake up early in the morning and craving for English breakfast, a slice of homemade cake with a cup of coffee? Head to Swens Pastry Cafe (GPS: 5.39087,100.31418) at Nova Business Center, Jelutong. Very good!
Cafe 13 @ Sungai Petani, Kedah
Trending in Sungai Petani? Try Cafe 13 (GPS: 5.63607,100.47503) at Taman Intan with chef from the famous Lily Catering. We almost flipped our table when we ordered Bento and they served us “economic rice set” on prisoner tray instead (and luckily we did not do so).
Eatsy Bitsy 小不点 @ Sungai Petani, Kedah
Eatsy Bitsy (GPS: 5.64015,100.50205) is perhaps the only cafe in Sungai Petani with large kid playground at the central of the dining area with toys occasionally flying out and kids crawling between your legs. Despite being a play zone, the food is surprisingly not bad at all especially its fried rice in which we ordered second plate while watching kids wrestling in the ring.
Huo Tan Wang Charcoal Steamboat 火炭皇 @ Nagore Road, Penang
Few years ago, when someone mentions charcoal steamboat in George Town, Penang, it must be the legendary Goh Huat Seng. Just like many big players in year 2018, it went into history and if you are looking for a placement, we recommend Huo Tan Wang 火炭皇 Charcoal Steamboat at Nagore Road (GPS: 5.42166,100.32632). We had a wonderful evening there with its signature Sour and Spicy base soup.
