The newly opened Ren Ren Tea House 人人茶馆 is located at Jalan Phuah Hin Leong, Penang. If the road name sounds unfamiliar to you, it is the same road with Kai Curry Bar, off Burmah Road after Penang Plaza. We visited it one evening as we heard that they got some kick-ass Tom Yam.

Kota Dine & Coffee
We can’t really remember when is our last time visiting Fort Cornwallis – a historical site nearby ferry terminal in Penang island. Recently, we had a chance to visit it, not for the sake of visiting cannons there, but a cafe hidden inside the park – namely Kota Dine & Coffee.
Moulmein Gourmet @ Pulau Tikus, Penang
It was one evening when our plan to have our dinner at open air Pulau Tikus Wet Market was spoiled by the drizzle weather. We noticed a new cafe called Moulmein Gourmet (MG) at the same row with Anna Thai Kitchen so we decided to give it a try.
Gravity – The Latest Rooftop Bar in Penang
Our first review on G Hotel Kelawai is during its topping off ceremony by Chief Minister of Penang back in year 2014. The ceremony was conducted on the highest floor – 24th floor in which the only thing available there is – cement. Recently, we re-visited the same floor again for Penang’s latest rooftop bar – Gravity.
The O’lives
This is probably the freshest Salmon Fillet we’ve ever tried. It comes with pommes puree (another fancy name for mashed potato), asparagus, dill cream (a tangy sauce), and surrounded by tarragon oil. The salmon fillet is crispy-outside, soft-inside and hardly has any fishy taste commonly found in frozen seafood product. This is one of the set lunch‘s main courses in The O’lives at Pulau Tikus, Penang.
Steamboat @ E&O Hotel
In Penang, there are two types of hot pot (or commonly known as steamboat) – buffet or set meal. While buffet style is usually value for money (provided you are big eater), it usually lacking of premium seafood such as crab and big prawns. Even some set meals only offer medium size prawns at most. The steamboat in E&O Hotel is, however, the most luxurious steamboat we have ever tried.
Sumo-Sumo
It was one weekday evening when we were in the rush to visit Logos Hope – a cruise with floating book fair in it at Swettenham Pier. Before reaching there, we decided to have our dinner nearby and surprisingly, we stumbled upon this newly opened Sumo-Sumo Japanese fast food restaurant at Bishop Street, Penang (near Route 9/GohKaki).
一棵树 Vegetarian Kitchen
Jawa Mee for RM2? Yes, this was the promotion item by 一棵树 Vegetarian Kitchen in conjunction with its opening recently. More important, it tasted as good as those non-vegetarian version. We particularly liked the silky smooth sweet and sour gravy made of sweet potato and tomatoes.
Mon Délice Patisserie
A cheesecake that represents Penang? Mon Délice Patisserie is a rare cake house in which it only serves quality French cakes and pastries. We recently visited its new outlet which was moved from Nagore Road to Jalan Servis. The new outlet consists of only four tables and fortunately we managed to grab a seat when we arrived. While some customers were celebrating birthdays, we came here just for our itchy mouth.
Chai Diam Ma @ George Town, Penang
Chai Diam Ma is hidden in a row of heritage building at Lebuh Queen, George Town, Penang. It can be difficult to spot at first. Coincidentally, the owner is also called Ms. Queen. Note that this is not a grocery shop but a cafe cum art space.
