The Cruises Set Lunch @ The One, Bayan Baru
For us, dining in a Western restaurant with dim environment usually mean one thing – the owner doesn’t want you to look at your wallet clearly, so that you will be less painful when paying the bill. Similar environment can be found in The Cruises Steak House. Luckily, their set lunch menu works well as a “painkiller” for cheap labor like us.
2F+ Coffee by Yellow House
Updated Apr-2015: Added more photos after re-visiting the place.
Previously, we introduced Yellow House – a cafe in Relau specialized in coffee. Since Nov-2014, the cafe had moved from Golden Lake Cafe building, to an old house near Relau T-junction, or better known as “Relau traffic light which always jams” few years ago. The new cafe is now called 2F+ Coffee.
Thai Hao Chi Boat Noodle @ Summerton, Penang
Previously, we saw some cafes in Penang offering big bowl of noodle, so big that it can become a boat for river crossing. Today, we have a new trend in Penang – small bowl of noodle also known as boat noodle originated from Thailand in which you will enjoy stacking them up more than eating them.

RM3 Hot Pot at Classic Cafe, Prangin Mall
We came across an article on Guang Ming Daily regarding an affordable place for hot pot in George Town and decided to give it a visit. We couldn’t believe our eye when we were told that an individual hot pot, which usually priced at RM10++, was priced at RM3 at Classic Cafe in Prangin Mall.
Relish, Gurney Paragon, Penang
Nyonya Nasi Ulam with Ayam Percik – one of the best items we sampled during our visit to the new Relish restaurant (Halal) at Gurney Paragon, Penang. It comes with our favorite Keropok Lekor – traditional fish cracker from East Coast. A uniquely Malaysian cuisine hardly found in other regions of the world.
Fong Ting Siew Fried Porridge 峰亭秀炒粥 @ Serdang, Kedah
Fried porridge 炒粥 – overnight porridge fried with salted pork belly, Chinese Chive, dried shredded squid, and soy sauce. The smallest size (RM9) serves 2-3 persons. You never know that plain porridge which usually taken when a person is sick can taste so good. It is no longer a stranger for Penangites but if you would like to try the original one, go to Serdang, Kedah, namely Fong Ting Siew 峰亭秀 restaurant.
