Banh Mi should not be a stranger for those visited Vietnam before. It is a street food consists of Baguette (French bread) stuffed with various ingredients. There were few Vietnamese restaurants in Penang serving the delicacy but with the recent closure of one of our favorites, it had been a while since we had a decent Banh Mi until we met the new Banh Mi Kitchen (GPS: 5.41646,100.32514 ) at Jalan Zainal Abidin, Georgetown, Penang.

On Penang island, Hakka cafe is like a needle in a haystack but it does not stop enthusiasts from offering Hakka cuisine at its best. Previously was Monkeycup Cafe serving Thai and Western cuisine, the cafe at Chow Thye Road is now rebranded to Hakkayin x Monkeycup Cafe (GPS: 5.42560,100.32130) serving mainly Hakka cuisine and gourmet coffee. Clay @ Summerskye, Penang

Exterior

Clay (GPS: 5.29892,100.26714) is one of first few restaurants opened in Summerskye near to Penang International Airport. Parking-wise, currently it is still free and you may get a space at multi-storey car park as it is usually hard to find parking in front of the shop. Just drive all the way to the end of ground level car park, park your car there and there is an exit leading you to Clay.

The New Coffee Addict @ Campbell Street, Penang

Coffee Addict at Nagore Road used to be our friend’s secret hideout thanks to its lovely environment and coffee. Recently, it moved to the lot previously owned by Moustache Houze (GPS: 5.41725, 100.33542) at Campbell Street, George Town, Penang. With bigger kitchen, the once “coffee only” cafe now serves mouthwatering food.
