Yesterday I ventured around town and eventually landed on Gurney Drive Foodcourt. I used to go to Gurney Plaza but never been to the foodcourt next to it. You can actually park your car in Gurney Plaza and walk to the foodcourt. It is only opened at night.

Porridge used to be traditional Chinese cuisine and is usually inexpensive. Some common dishes are such as salted duck eggs, dried shrimps in soy sauce, pork colon, black bean fish (豆豉鱼), etc. Today, we went to a porridge restaurant (新园清香粥) at Lorong Selamat, Penang.

The first one is Tabasco from USA, which is well-known even in Asia countries due to its effective marketing strategy. Manufactured in Avery Island, the chilies are handpicked and stored in wooden baskets for 3 years with natural mineral salt before taking them out for filtration. With added vinegar, American like to put 2 – 3 drops on hotdog to make the food tastier. Now I know why each Tabasco bottle is so small and pricey.

Opposite of New World Park is a lane called Lorong Selamat (turn left when reaching New World Park which is on your right). It is famous with expensive Char Koay Teow. While saving some money to review this fried rice noodle stall, we paid a visit to a restaurant of the same row – Low Eng Hoo Restaurant.
