My ball is black

Blackball, Gurney Plaza, Penang, Malaysia

Taiwanese desserts enter Malaysia like a convoy of army. In some shopping malls, you may find yourself having too many choices for a dessert/drink shop. One of them is Blackball 黑丸 which is mushrooming in Penang, with the latest one opened in Nov-2-2012 in Gurney Plaza. Let’s see what’s so special about Blackball.

Buy 1 Free 1 & Free Flow Wine/Beer Buffet @ G-Hotel

Buffet Dinner

My friends asked me what kind of buffets available in G Hotel – a famous business hotel in Penang town area? I suddenly recalled that I visited the hotel recently (for food sampling purpose only) and nice PR officers passed me a bunch of documents. One of it was the promotion for Sep – Oct 2011. Surprisingly they do have “Buy 1 Free 1” offer which looks tempting.

Pastamania @ Gurney Plaza

Pastamania @ Gurney Plaza

Pastamania @ Gurney Plaza

Once I can’t differentiate between pasta and spaghetti but after visiting Pastamania at Gurney Plaza (next to cinema), it is clearer now. Pasta is an Italian term of “paste”, which is generic name for all kind of pastes made of flours, eggs or egg whites. Spaghetti is one type of pastas which is thin, long and cylindrical. I visited this restaurant as they provided 30% discount for student (remember to bring your badge and show to the host when ordering) from Mon – Fri (2pm – 6pm) so that poor students like me got chance to try foreign food.

BBQ Chicken – A Healthier Alternative

If you have health concern on red color old man fried chicken chain stores widely available in Malaysia, you may consider BBQ Chicken from Korea. There is an outlet in Gurney Plaza, Penang. The specialty is not BBQ chicken, but chicken fried with olive oil, which is said able to reduce cholesterol etc. Seriously, it is not as irritating as the old man’s one even you consumed 3 pieces of it at one time. The meat is smoother as well. Also, they mostly provide drumstick and/or thigh parts. Another meal called Jerk BBQ are also very good (perhaps this is the food the shop named after with). On most dishes, you can choose either mash potato or steamed rice as side dish. Both also taste good.

When I first visiting BBQ Chicken in February, I was given RM5 voucher in which I can redeem immediately. Now, the offer seems no longer available 🙁 There should be another outlet opening at New World Park, Burma Road, Penang if not wrong.

As a whole, even though the price is slightly more expensive than the chain stores out there, the healthier food make this restaurant a better choice for health-concern customers.
